Wando Choirs have enjoyed a long tradition of excellence in choral music. Composed of 240 singers from Wando High School, the choral program boast 6 performance ensembles. They are: Concert Choir Advanced Concert Choir Wando Singers Ladies Honors Choir Show Choir Urban Contemporary Choir Wando choirs traditionally rank in the top 5 in the state for number of singers in the SC All-State Chorus and in the 2008-09 school year placed 27 singers in the choir. This is the 3rd most in the state. In 2008, the Wando Show Choir recieved Superior Ratings and placed 3rd at the AAAA SCMEA State Choral Festival. The combined Wando Concert Choir also recieved a Gold Award, Superior Ratings and placed 2nd at Heritage Festival's New York Choral Festival. The Wando Chorus has completed many successful European tours including tours of Austria and, most recently, Prague in the Czech Republic. The chorus tours both nationally and internatinoally and are well known in the state and the Southeast for their high level of performance. |
